The Process for Commercial Solar Installation

We will work with you to create a seamless installation from start to finish. We have experience working with non-profits, Hawaii State Park, the Division of Natural Resources, The federal government, the churches, and many commercial projects throughout Kauai.

1. Site Assessment

A project begins with a visit to the site to determine the feasibility of the project. Project features can be determined by assessing the constraints of the property, building, and sun exposure. These constraints are then compared with the customer’s energy objectives to create an energy solution that expertly fits their needs.

Project considerations:

  1. How much power is required?

  2. Does the rooftop provide enough space for the panels required?

  3. What is the sun exposure to the property?

  4. Grid-tied or off-grid project?

2. Bid & Design

Our design takes into account all aspects of renewable energy, efficiency optimization, and automation.

Our in-house electrical engineering team fits the local grid considerations, allows unbiased equipment selection across markets, and allows direct team access to the county building review process.

Our proposals include a financial analysis, including detailed power production, payback period, and available tax credits.

3. Construction and Installation

The construction process can vary depending on system size and type. Smaller installations can take 2-3 weeks. While larger projects can take 2- 3 months. Our company is exceptional at creating minimal disruptions to business operations during installation.

When the system is complete, there is a waiting period for the County inspectors to approve the site. Once the county inspections have been completed, KIUC may need to inspect the system depending on the type of system and interconnection agreement.

4. Commissioning

Commissioning is the process of connecting the new system to the grid for the transfer of energy and checking all major systems are operating and communicating correctly. It is conducted after the PV system is installed and all inspections are completed.

Individual representatives from each of the main component suppliers; inverter, ESS, and the generator may be on hand for commissioning.

5. Operation and Maintenance (O&M)

Protect the life and productivity of your solar microgrid with an Operation & Maintenance agreement. Solar Plus is a trusted partner in Operation & Maintenance providing program maintenance, software maintenance, panel cleaning, warranty updates, and performance monitoring.

Each project will require a different level of maintenance, we will discuss this with you as part of the project schedule.
